My last two days in Paris have been fairly eventful. It, however, seems you must "fait le que" at every tourist attraction in the city! On Tuesday, I spent more than 2 hours in line waiting to get into the catacombs. The line was literally inching by, part of the reason being that only 200 people are allowed in at a time. I must say though, it was worth it. What's better than spending an hour in the tunnels about 100m below Paris looking at bones? Honestly, it was pretty cool. Though we were only able to access about 2km of the huge ossuary, it supposedly extended for over 50km, filled with the remains from various cemeteries that had overflowed in the late 18th/early 19th century.

The gigantic moat of the keep |
Wednesday, I spent most of my time in the giant Chateau de Vincennes. For once, there was no line! The Chateau de Vincennes was an enormous hunting lodge originally established in the 1100s. As the years progressed, more and more kings added sections onto it. Today, the complex houses a chapel, keep, manor, pavilions for the king and queen, and a weaponry pavilion. The chapel in particular was quite impressive with it's intricate gothic architecture. It was also pretty cool seeing the gigantic moats and portcullis - it was like a grade 5 middle ages diorama come to life!
